Comfort and Aesthetics: Keys to Choosing the Right Bedroom Color
Choosing the right color for our bedroom can prove to be a very
tedious job. As it is our haven of peace and privacy, we want our
bedrooms to fit our wants and needs and at the same time, please us with
its lavish beauty. With the infinite number of tips and guidelines on
choosing the right bedroom design and color available in books and in
the net however, we sometimes fall into the pit of overdoing the job, or
else making the overall look alien to our own taste.

In designing our bedroom, we have to remember that we are doing it
neither for the sake of satisfying other people nor only for aesthetics,
but for making it as comfortable and cozy as possible. After all, our
bedroom is one of the very few places where we can freely enjoy our most
intimate moments without having to think of anyone else’s concerns but
our own. To actualize the potential that every bedroom has, we have to
make sure that it has the right design and most importantly, color.
Psychology would tell us that colors could have astonishing effects on
people’s perceptions and feelings. As our bedroom is the last we see at
night and first we see in the morning, it is essential to plan the best
color scheme that would create the maximum comfort and visual quality.

For starters, the first step is to consider what effect is yearned to be
achieved. For instance, if we want a sort of calming effect, we can use
cool colors such as blue and green (and probably everything in between),
or earth colors such as brown and gray. Another factor to consider in
choosing the appropriate color is the overall architecture of the house.
It is necessary to ensure that the bedroom color is parallel or at least
complementing to that of the entire house or else it would damage the
sustainability of design. To illustrate a point, think of a bright candy
pink room in an ethnic-style house. Because the color of the bedroom
usually reflects the owner’s personality, we can be carefree in choosing
colors that match our attitudes and moods. However, this does not mean
that we can mix and match colors that are completely at odds with each
other. The key is balancing the color combinations so that they
complement each other and at the same time possess our own character.
Finally, for people who likes being trendy, it is also a plus factor
that the bedroom design and color is not out of fashion. It helps taking
on the advice of some interior design experts, but it is still
imperative that the comfort and the owner’s personal touch are not being
compromised. |
